Principal Software Engineer

Summary

Principal Software Engineer at ServiceNow to lead the design and delivery of AI-assisted HR solutions, owning agentic workflows, evaluation infrastructure, and production safety for large language models in a highly regulated domain. You will author agent instructions and prompts, design autonomous workflows with tool calling and retrieval grounding, build evaluation datasets and CI gates that catch HR-specific failures (access violations, cross-scope leakage, policy correctness), and ensure observability for hallucination, injection, and unsafe actions without exposing restricted content. You'll drive system design across retrieval, entitlement-aware tooling, and LLM orchestration; handle hard integrations and production migrations; and partner with product and engineering to translate business needs into robust, testable specifications. This role requires 10+ years of software engineering with hands-on agentic AI and LLM production experience, including at least one model or orchestration migration, plus deep expertise in system design, APIs, data modeling, and strong Java/JavaScript/TypeScript/React skills.
