Staff AI Engineer

Summary

As a Staff AI Engineer at Teradata, you will lead the design and evolution of large-scale, distributed AI systems and platforms, owning architecture decisions for agentic AI, LLM platforms, RAG pipelines, vector stores, and developer-facing AI systems. You will drive technical strategy across multiple engineering teams, design production-grade AI systems using LLMs and embeddings, and establish engineering standards for reliability, safety, and operational excellence. This role requires 8+ years building backend services, distributed systems, or data/AI platforms, with strong proficiency in Java, Go, or Python and deep understanding of distributed system design, cloud-native architectures, and production data stores. You will mentor senior engineers, influence product roadmap decisions, and serve as a technical escalation point for complex system design and performance challenges.
