Summary
The NETSEC Engineer designs, implements, and maintains security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, endpoint protection, and host hardening across Linux and Windows DoD/Navy environments. Responsibilities include engineering SIEM/SOAR solutions (Splunk, Sentinel), developing security automation scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell), configuring ACAS vulnerability scanning, tuning Trellix ESS policies, and applying system hardening standards (STIGs). The role requires troubleshooting complex OS and security tool integration issues, analyzing vulnerability findings, and supporting cyber defense teams to improve detection fidelity and reduce false positives.
