Expected to own system testing end-to-end, validate robustness under degraded conditions (jitter, packet loss, brownouts, watchdog resets), and collaborate with avionics, autonomy, radio, and payload teams to harden reliability on aircraft.

The Communications Specialist II provides technical and operational support for Advanced Tactical Data Link (ATDL) systems, with focus on cryptographic integration, COMSEC, and network interoperability. Responsibilities include configuring and fielding secure communication systems, troubleshooting system and interoperability issues, evaluating network architectures, and providing training to operators and maintainers. The role requires minimum 2 years of experience with ATDL systems (Link 16, MIDS JTRS), COMSEC material handling, and cryptographic communication systems, plus an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

You will design and execute risk-based test strategies (feature/bring-up, exploratory, regression, acceptance) and build automation across HIL/SIL rigs exercising real buses (CAN/CAN-FD, UART, SPI, I²C, Ethernet) and links (MAVLink, Tactical Data Links) under fault conditions. You will instrument diagnostics, triage defects, and harden robustness for timing, jitter, packet loss, brownouts, and recovery paths before Flight Test. This is a full-time onsite role in San Diego requiring hands-on bench work with flight computers, power systems, radios, and sensors.
