Senior engineer designing, implementing, and validating Wireless WAN modem air interface and Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies for multi-RAT systems. Responsible for modem access stratum and RF software design, algorithms, HW/SW co-processor architecture, and transceiver implementation based on 3GPP LTE and 5G NR specifications. Works across L1/L2/L3 protocol layers, optimizes for performance (throughput, latency, power consumption) and cost (silicon area, calibration complexity), and collaborates with RF and hardware teams on modem IP architecture and shared resource allocation.

Design, develop, and implement modem power optimization features within the modem protocol stack for Pixel devices. Analyze power consumption across LTE and 5G NR network conditions to identify optimization opportunities, collaborate with modem vendors and platform teams on power reduction initiatives, and build automated power measurement tools and dashboards to track KPIs. Requires 1+ years of C/C++ coding experience and hands-on power management of embedded mobile devices, with strong performance analysis, debugging, and optimization skills for low-level systems.

This role develops and integrates device platforms with cloud management systems for wireless edge and IoT devices across Tier-1 carrier networks. The engineer will build middleware, APIs, and services; implement device management protocols (TR-069, TR-369/USP, SNMP); perform provisioning, telemetry ingestion, and firmware-over-the-air updates; and conduct end-to-end integration testing in lab environments simulating real-world conditions. The position requires proficiency in C/C++, Go, or Python on embedded and Linux systems, strong protocol debugging skills (Wireshark, GDB), and hands-on experience with cellular networking standards, REST/gRPC APIs, and remote device management. Success demands close collaboration across distributed teams, carrier certification support, and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware-software-network integration issues independently.
